Blind & Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh

The North Hills Friendship Group

Good conversation, coffee, entertainment, and a variety of activities will all be a part of the Friendship Group that is forming in the North Hills for seniors with vision loss.

Dr. Andrea Weller Schwartz, a community volunteer, is creating the group for men and women who are legally blind or vision impaired. Meetings will be free. Volunteers are also needed. Interested people should call Andrea at 724-444-0064. Referrals to the group will be made by BVRS and the Pennsylvania Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services, Pittsburgh office.

One of the activities will be a knitting and crocheting group. Andrea is pictured left, holding the afghan that blind and vision impaired needle workers made and gave her to thank her for starting the successful knitting and crocheting group at The Valley Center for the Blind in Fresno, CA. Andrea is the founder and former director of the Valley Center.
