Auxiliaries

There are 2 auxiliaries supporting the work of Pittsburgh Vision Services. St. Lucy's Auxiliary to the Blind was founded in 1957 to provide assistance to the Greater Pittsburgh Guild for the Blind. In 1961, the Auxiliary was founded to aid Pittsburgh Blind Association. Since 1997 both organizations have continued their service to Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh.

The Auxiliary, Blind & Vision Rehabilitaion Services of Pittsburgh

Auxiliary members provide direct volunteer service, serving as readers, shoppers and escorts for persons who are blind or visually impaired. They help with mailings, clerical work, fund raising activities, and preschool vision screening.

St. Lucy's Auxiliary

St. Lucy's efforts provide financial assistance primarily by sponsoring the Medallion Ball. Although the event is under the patronage of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, it is open to all young ladies who have made valuable contributions to their community through their unselfish efforts in performing many hours of volunteer service. Each participant is honored by receiving the Joan of Arc Medallion.

If you are interested in joining one of these auxiliaries, please contact our Information and Referral Department at 412-368-4400 or in Pennsylvania, 800-706-5050.
